Laurel & Eric

The wedding of

A Polished Micro Wedding

Laurel is a resident orthopedic surgeon in Minnesota and her fiance Eric an orthopedic surgeon in Georgia. Needless to say, planning a Milwaukee wedding was no easy task for them and they definitely needed our help!

After having to postpone their Milwaukee Art Museum wedding due to Coronavirus, the couple decided to honor their original wedding date with an intimate and safe micro wedding of 50 for their closest friends and family.

The couple wanted to give hints and compliments to the design that is to come for their postponed wedding of 300 in 2021 without giving too much away. The design was filled with greenery, and a neutral palette with an overall polished feel.

what they had to say

"When my daughter became engaged in the spring of 2019, I knew immediately I would need to enlist the services of a wedding planner. My daughter is an orthopedic surgery resident in MN and her fiancé, an orthopedic surgeon in GA. Their long distance living situation and busy schedules were going make wedding planning a challenge. They wanted to be married in the Milwaukee area, where her father and I live and she grew up.

All the initial planning went very smoothly with the assistance of the very creative and organized Emily Head, lead planner with Events to a T. She was very knowledgeable about which vendors were available in the area for everything from flowers to food to photographers and more. We had many text, phone, and email exchanges working out the numerous details, including my daughter and her fiancé in on meetings in person or via FaceTime whenever possible. She took our vision and created the perfect design plan for a beautiful event that was to take place in September 2020.

When the pandemic hit in March 2020 and the world drastically changed, the wedding plans began to crumble. Emily was there through it all, calmly advising us and ultimately helping us to make the very difficult decision to postpone the larger wedding reception. She immediately set about securing venues and vendors for a future reception date, then began the process of planning a “micro wedding” for September, as my daughter and her fiancé still wanted to exchange their vows on their original date. She again secured the vendors for this and found the perfect venue for the ceremony and a small, safe reception.

Details had to be altered or rearranged constantly because of the various pandemic restrictions and mandates that were constantly changing. Through it all she was calm, responsive and professional. Nothing seemed to rattle her. Even when weather threw a last minute wrench into the plans, everything was handled perfectly and the day went seamlessly. The result was an intimate, beautiful wedding that didn’t feel at all like a Covid compromise. We are now working, with cautious optimism, on plans for a reception in spring 2021 with the hope that more friends and family will be able to attend and celebrate their marriage.

I highly recommend Emily Head and Events to a T to make any wedding, under any circumstances, a beautiful and memorable day!"
